He shares stories from the front lines of trauma about how he coped with the challenges of not knowing if a patient would survive the extreme trauma injuries or not. He faced high-profile incidents involving loved ones, families, his team, the hospital, and the community in these situations. His stories enthralled me; you could see just how touching and emotional some of the incidents had been and still are. The life of a cardiothoracic trauma ECMO surgeon, although not easy, certainly became a great source of meaning for Dr. Hill.
