It could be a lurking roadblock that you haven’t identified and dealt with. Often these lurkers are internal. Attitudes that we weren’t aware of, perspectives that we hold tight to even if invalid, truisms that may not be true anymore.
Tackling the toughest roadblocks do require new perspectives, new approaches, new dialogs that push us out of our comfort zone. They are new because we haven’t dealt with them before. We haven’t called them out.
What lurkers do you carry around that block or slow progress on accomplishing your goals?
The toughest ones are those that show up at work and in your personal life. These can really lurk behind all the skills, knowledge, bull-doggedness, toughness, it’s just business, I know it already, and other attitudes that often serve us well but sometimes can hide a lurker.
Lurkers show up as obstacles way down the list. They cause long to do lists. Out of control busy-ness. Changing directions often. And a host of other woes.
Identifying those lurking obstacles sometimes needs an outside perspective. A colleague, a mentor, a coach. It can be very hard to do it alone.
Very few people actually will take the step tackle these. Are you finally ready?
