I’ve decided to turn all my efforts into a personal command center.

Welcome to my personal command center. I am in control here.

Welcome to my personal command center. I am in control here.

Welcome to my personal command center. A command center can be with lot’s of people in a larger company, a small team or yourself. It doesn’t matter how many people are involved. It does matter if you want to be on top of things within your scope.
So assemble your own…personal command center for your profession, job, business and life.
My command center puts me in control of all my projects: business, professional, social, family, financial, social, spiritual. I run my personal command center with central command around which I decide what I will and will not do, what action to take, and when to take action.
But first, a quick story…
Jason working through his stress from the day.

Jason working through his stress from the day.

Jason complains often about the “40 plus things” he has to do each day.  And there’s more being dumped on him. Plus Jason, in an attempt to please his boss agrees to do some things he feels are easy but cannot get to and don’t help him reach his goals.

Then, Jason stresses about how to get them all done. So he does “research” on Youtube and other social media. Really, it is research. Well, mostly. The distractions do creep in. At the end of the day Jason collapses in exhaustion.

Welcome to my command center!

It's never good enough. You probably wonder what exactly is a command center. The major aspects of a command center flow around the processes of planning, projects, prioritizing and scheduling.

TIP: A key to prioritizing is to align the tasks closely to your strategic goals. Read strategic as making a lot of money, nailing those big projects, becoming more effective and efficient, accomplishing worthy achievements, making lots of friends, serving your family, living a healthy happy and accomplished life.

Okay in this command center I’ve listed out the processes I work each day.
Warning: Don’t bother with a command center unless you have an aligned strategically meaningful plan based on values important to you personally.
Each day I spend a few minutes reviewing the following six activities:

  1. Review goals, their plans, and the projects to accomplish them.
  2. Review project details and the tasks.
  3. Align the tasks to most likely to accomplish the goals.
  4. Schedule the tasks into 60-90 minute blocks.
  5. Keep an eye on values to make sure I don’t veer off course.
  6. Make adjustments.
  7. Execute.

When I work with others on goals, I meet as often as possible to coordinate the steps just outlined. If they don’t like doing it, I push them then if they still don’t step up I give increasingly menial tasks and we often part ways.

Then there are the tools in my personal command center

As a rule I’ve punted on all Microsoft tools in favor of several cloud based tools. These are generally free for simple uses, accessible from any mobile enabled device and always available.
Tools in my command center.

  • Notes for building out my vision, goals, plans and first level goals. I use Evernote free version.
  • Task tracking to assemble the tasks and obstacles. I use Todoist, free version.
  • Project management for assembling well formed projects with many steps and other people. I use
  • Asana which is free for up to 15 people on projects.
  • A calendar to schedule priority tasks to accomplish. I use both Google calendar and Outlook calendar.
  • CRM to track and organize marketing and sales activities. I use Zoho CRM, the free version.
  • For marketing communication, tracking results and managing contacts I use Mailchimp. This one I pay for. It is also integrated with other tools I use.
